Day 9

It may seem like the wrong holiday, but I started making a mental list of all of the things I am thankful for and I thought I would share it with you all.

  • My husband. I could say this every single day for the rest of my life and I still don’t think I could adequately express just how grateful I am for him.
  • New wrapping paper.
  • The ability to flip a switch and have overhead heat in my bathroom on chilly days. It is heavenly.
  • Having the opportunity to work for someone who appreciated me and encouraged me.
  • Christmas trees, lit up with lights and decorated with ornaments from Christmases past and present.
  • Being able to shop online. And waiting for packages to arrive!
  • Getting to enjoy a gluten free Italian meal when I was craving it, complete with pasta, bread and salad with croutons.
  • The sound of my husband laughing!
  • Free books on my kindle.
  • Nostalgia and the ability to have memories. Does anyone remember Polly Pocket?! This was another one of my favorite Christmas presents ever!

What are you thankful for?

  1. This season of life I’m thankful for
    1. my husband who understands and loves me even when I don’t deserve it.
    2. My faith which carries me through. I don’t know how I would be where I am without it.
    3. Matching into residency in the same town as my husband. And ultimately having the blessing of family being near by
    4. For my family – with all their personalities, inperfections and amazing ness
    5. For my friends – especially my co-interns who get the day to day grind of this crazy job that I love.
    6. My career and patients – who keep trying to make me into a better version of myself.
    7. For my mildewy covered herbs that remind me it’s okay to try things I’m not naturally gifted or talented at with the hope of improving or gaining some knowledge
    8. For paved roads, hot water, heat and a full fridge.
    9. For my dear friends in Kenya who I miss but continue to stay in touch with me despite my forgetting repeatedly to write them back!
    10. For this blog and your journey.

  2. I think this is a great time of year to remember all that you are thankful for! There is so much stability and abundance in my life that I take for granted. This year I would have to say how thankful I am for a reliable job and an able body that keeps me worry free.
